Frontend Software Engineer (Js, CSS3)

Coinbase is a leading cryptocurrency exchange seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, to lead the technical strategy for its Advanced trading platform. The role involves owning performance, reliability, and scalability of web and mobile trading clients, driving low-latency interfaces, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Define and own the front-end technical roadmap for Coinbase Advanced, including architecture decisions that ensure reliability and scalability across web and mobile platforms
• Drive performance improvements by optimizing rendering, network utilization, and state management to provide a low-latency trading experience
• Lead complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives from conception to completion, setting high standards for code quality, system design, and engineering rigor
• Mentor and develop senior engineers, fostering technical growth and elevating decision-making within the team
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business priorities into technical plans and deliver high-impact features
• Establish and promote front-end engineering practices, patterns, and conventions that support team growth and development velocity
• Ensure the platform's architecture supports future scalability, security, and maintainability needs

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on front-end development
• Deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks such as React, React Native, or equivalent technologies
• Proven experience in optimizing complex UI systems for performance, including rendering, network efficiency, and state management at scale
• Experience leading technical strategy and architecture decisions for product areas
• Successful track record mentoring senior engineers and improving team engineering standards
• Familiarity with high-availability, low-latency systems, especially in trading platforms, financial systems, or real-time data applications (preferred)
• Strong understanding of mobile development environments and cross-platform integration
• Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to enhance workflow, reduce costs, and improve quality
