Staff Software Engineer: Applied AI

Flexport is building AI agents to automate global supply chain operations. As a Staff Software Engineer in Applied AI, you will design and ship end-to-end AI agents that handle real logistics work, working across organizational boundaries to solve ambiguous problems with immediate measurable impact.

• Design and ship end-to-end AI agents that handle real logistics work—customs compliance, document processing, exception management, and more
• Cross organizational boundaries to understand problems deeply, align stakeholders, and get things done without waiting for permission
• Move fast from idea to production, treating every deployment as a learning opportunity
• Work directly with operators, domain experts, and leadership to turn ambiguous problems into shipped solutions

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong product instincts
• LLM fluency: agent patterns, RAG, prompt engineering, tool use, evaluation
• Full-stack capability in TypeScript and Next.js
• Entrepreneurial drive: thrives in ambiguity, moves fast
• Excellent communication: works across teams and disciplines
