Senior Roku Engineer

Build a new streaming application within a multi-platform OTT ecosystem using BrightScript and SceneGraph for Roku devices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance features.

• Build and maintain reusable Roku UI components using BrightScript and SceneGraph, following established coding and platform architecture practices
• Implement reliable video playback workflows, including player lifecycle management, content loading, error handling, and playback state synchronization
• Integrate backend APIs, content services, authentication mechanisms, analytics solutions, and platform-specific functionality
• Develop asynchronous tasks and data-processing workflows that support responsive application behavior and efficient communication with external services
• Debug device-specific issues and optimize navigation, UI rendering, application startup, memory usage, and playback performance across Roku device generations
• Design application architecture, component structure, navigation patterns, and deep linking flows that support maintainability, scalability, and consistent user experiences
• Integrate the Roku Advertising Framework and support advertising workflows, including ad playback, tracking, error handling, and coordination with video content
• Collaborate with web, mobile, backend, design, QA, and product teams to clarify requirements, resolve technical dependencies, review solutions, and deliver production-ready features

• 3+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining Roku applications
• Deep expertise in BrightScript, SceneGraph, Roku platform architecture, component lifecycles, and application packaging
• Experience with end-to-end OTT application development, including video playback, authentication, analytics, API integrations, and deep linking
• Knowledge of the Roku Advertising Framework and advertising integration workflows
• Strong background in asynchronous processing, data integration, debugging, memory management, and application performance optimization
• Experience optimizing applications across multiple Roku device generations and addressing device-specific platform limitations
• Experience with at least one additional OTT platform, such as Apple TV, Tizen, Fire TV, or Google TV
• Knowledge of cross-platform ecosystems that may include React, React Native, and Node.js
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working effectively with engineering, design, QA, and product stakeholders
