Stage Back-end Developer

As a Back-end intern at Schmit, you will work on APIs, embedded modules, and real-time integrations in our smart parking solutions. You will be part of a technical team, developing reliable back-end architecture that supports various applications.

• Write and maintain APIs in Java or C++
• Work on modules that run on embedded devices
• Integrate external systems and data streams via REST and AMQP
• Contribute to design, data structures, and error handling
• Write unit tests and complete integration tests for backend components
• Improve performance and reliability where possible

• Pursuing a HBO degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field
• Experience with or strong knowledge of Java and/or C++
• Understanding of how APIs work (REST, JSON, HTTP)
• Proven programming experience outside of study (personal projects, open source contributions, hobby projects, freelance work)
• Eager to learn, independent, and willing to ask questions
• Fluent in Dutch and able to communicate in English
