Senior Software Engineer (Dev Platform)

Proxima Fusion is developing the world's first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. This role focuses on building and scaling the software infrastructure for stellarator design, including cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, and developer experience.

• Design and develop a platform that helps simulation, optimization and stellarator design teams to overcome their challenges and achieve their goals more efficiently.
• Champion the Cloud Infrastructure Operations.
• Manage general cloud infrastructure (including IaaC, permission management, and cloud efficiency).
• Support the democratization of cloud computing (e.g. K8s, Ray, Dask, Docker, PEX).
• Unify and streamline the development experience (including CI/CD, Devcontainers, and monorepos).
• Improving observability.
• Manage Distributed Computing and High-Performance Computing clusters for research, stellarator design and optimization.
• Raise the bar in our cross-org DevOps practices and optimize our DORA metrics.

• Strong foundation in computer science
• Understanding or hands-on experience with DevOps, CloudOps, or Platform engineering practices
• Familiar with the development and management of scalable cloud infrastructure, ideally as used in science, ML or other data processing-heavy use cases
• Experienced in end-to-end/full-stack system design, ideally within an environment supporting physics, engineering, or AI teams
• Proficient in Python and Linux
• Driven to solve complex problems with simple solutions and a desire to contribute to clean energy
