Backend Engineer (Node.js) — Storyby

About the Position

SKELAR is a Ukrainian venture builder focused on creating international tech businesses. With strong teams across various niches, we build platforms used by millions and receive recognition in global media. We pride ourselves on our strong team of over 1000 professionals working to achieve ambitious goals. Currently, we are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Storyby team, which focuses on transforming original ideas into stories across various media formats.

Responsibilities5

• Implement and maintain API endpoints for web and mobile: HTTP Cloud Functions, validation, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Optimize performance: profiling, caching, proper indexing for fast operation.
• Ensure quality and reliability: unit and integration tests (Jest), logging, tracing, alerts.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain engineering standards in a monorepo (Nx, esbuild, CI).
• Engage in basic infrastructure work with Terraform and incident resolution.

Requirements6

• 3+ years of backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Understanding SQL at a level of indexing, profiling, and correct queries.
• Experience with Git as part of the process, not just committing at the end of the day.
• Ability to prioritize: separating main tasks from secondary ones.
• Interest in new technologies, trends, and AI, and actively sharing knowledge with the team.
• Responsibility for the code created for users.
