About the Position
GDIT is a leading global technology company seeking a Senior Software Developer to lead frontend engineering for government clients. The role involves defining frontend architecture, developing accessible web applications, mentoring teams, and modernizing frontend stacks.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement frontend architecture standards, best practices, and tooling to enhance team productivity and code quality
- Lead the development of accessible, performant, and user-centered web applications for government clients
- Serve as a technical thought leader and strategic advisor in frontend engineering initiatives
- Design modern frontend architectures, development pipelines, and deployment infrastructure
- Create and maintain component libraries, design systems, and shared infrastructure to promote consistency and efficiency
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to develop UI/UX solutions that balance user needs and technical feasibility
- Implement accessibility compliance measures, including linting, automated testing, and adherence to standards
- Mentor and coach engineering teams, establishing career development pathways for frontend specialists
- Identify opportunities to modernize frontend stacks and improve developer experience
- Work across the full stack when necessary to troubleshoot and deliver end-to-end solutions
- Influence technical decisions across teams and promote best practices in frontend development
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience in frontend development or software engineering
- Proven experience architecting and implementing large-scale, accessible web applications using React and/or Angular
- Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript
- Deep understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508)
- Experience with frontend build tools and deployment pipelines such as Webpack, Vite, npm, or pnpm
- Knowledge of automated testing frameworks including Jest, Vitest, Cypress, or Playwright
- Experience with design systems, component libraries, and maintaining UI consistency across multiple applications
- Familiarity with web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and frontend monitoring
- Understanding of API integration patterns, including REST and GraphQL
- Experience establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated accessibility checks and code quality enforcement
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance (Level 6C)
