Senior Software Developer (PLC)

Vanderlande is hiring a Senior Software Developer (PLC) in Veghel, Netherlands. The role involves designing and developing advanced control solutions for distribution systems using Siemens PLC platforms and TIA Portal. The candidate will work in the Technology department on challenging projects, including testing creations in the company's Innovation Centre.

• Lead the design and development of advanced control solutions for Vanderlande's Distribution systems
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to translate customer needs into robust, scalable PLC-based automation
• Create detailed technical deliverables
• Support system integration
• Analyze risks
• Drive continuous improvement of control system functionality across complex system environments

• 3+ years of experience with Siemens PLC platforms (S71200, S71500, ET200 family)
• Expert-level proficiency in TIA Portal (V15+), including PLC, HMI, and Safety
• Experience with Safety PLC programming (FSystems, safety functions, SIL/PL concepts)
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, OPC UA)
• Experience with Siemens Drives (G120, S120) and motion control applications
• Familiarity with SCADA and data connectivity (WinCC, Unified, MQTT, SQL, or MES)
• Cybersecurity awareness (IEC 62443 principles)
• Understanding STL and SCL program language
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Ability to lead automation projects with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and cross-disciplinary teamwork skills
• Ability to mentor and support junior engineers
• Fluent in English; other languages are a plus
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field
• Experience in high-speed manufacturing, food & beverage, logistics, robotics, or OEM machinery
• Experience with virtual commissioning (PLCsim Advanced)
• Familiarity with Agile engineering processes and modern DevOps concepts for PLC development (version control, CI/CD for automation)
