Founding Engineer (Backend-heavy, 3-5 y.o.e)

About the Position

A Singapore seed-stage startup is a platform for fan communities that brings together communities around anime, K-pop, and other subcultures. The goal is to build the future of how the world experiences fandoms with a mobile app currently live on iOS and Android.

Responsibilities8

• Own, understand, and optimize the backend systems of the mobile app
• Build the algorithms that power core user experience
• Strengthen the cloud infrastructure to support scaling to 1 million users
• Design and implement core recommendation and engagement algorithms
• Collaborate with the Huddle team to integrate algorithms into the system
• Define data structures and pipelines for algorithm efficiency and scalability
• Test and refine algorithms to optimize performance
• Contribute to high-level technical decisions around algorithm architecture and future enhancements

Requirements13

• 3-5 years of professional experience as a back-end engineer or full stack developer
• Strong experience with Node.js and NestJS
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases
• Experience designing APIs and data models for high-traffic systems
• DB performance optimization skills
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with automated testing
• CS/Math background
• Experience with feed or ranking algorithms
• High-load experience is a plus
