Software Engineer, Data Runtime

Mixpanel is the leading product intelligence and analytics platform. The Data Runtime team owns the data execution layer that powers every Mixpanel product. As a Software Engineer III on Data Runtime, you'll design and build the systems that execute every query at Mixpanel, contributing to initiatives like elastic query compute and distributed file cache.

• Design and build the systems that execute every query at Mixpanel
• Contribute to technical design for complex distributed-systems projects from prototype to global rollout
• Partner with peer infrastructure teams (Query Serving, Streaming, Data Foundation) and product teams on shared architecture
• Own projects end to end: driving design, building, shipping, and running in production

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating data infra/backend systems
• Solid foundation in distributed systems or data infrastructure
• Experience owning a project or significant component end to end
• Strong technical communication, especially in writing
• Sound judgment in technical tradeoffs informed by real operations experience
• High ownership and accountability
• Desire to be at the forefront of infrastructure powering AI-first analytics
• Technical skills: Go, C/C++, Python, SQL, distributed systems, columnar formats, caching, performance engineering, cloud & infra, reliability, AI-augmented engineering
