Data scientist - Asset Optimization

Eneco is seeking a Data Scientist for Asset Optimization to develop and improve optimization models that steer the company's energy asset portfolio. The role supports trading, asset operations, and the energy transition by building robust, scalable models for assets like batteries, wind, and solar. The team is small and collaborative, working closely with traders, tech, and operations.

• Build and improve optimization models for energy asset dispatch
• Translate contracts, market opportunities and asset behaviour into mathematical models
• Develop clean, modular Python code and contribute to production-quality solutions
• Improve monitoring and reliability based on real-time and realised asset data
• Work with data scientists, developers, traders, dispatchers and operations colleagues
• Help solve incidents when needed and use learnings to improve the model landscape
• Bring your own ideas for improvement and turn strong ideas into practical results

• A master’s degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field, such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, engineering or a related field
• Around 1 to 4 years of relevant work experience in data science, analytics or a comparable role
• Strong Python skills and an understanding of clean code, testing and monitoring
• Experience with mathematical modelling, optimization or algorithm development
• Experience with cloud-based data environments, preferably including Azure, Databricks or similar tools
• The ability to understand business needs and translate them into robust data-driven solutions
• Strong English communication skills

• Gross annual salary between €71.000 and €100.000
