QA Engineer (Contract role)

About the Position

As the first QA engineer at Pear Suite, you will architect the quality strategy, establish QA processes, and build an end-to-end test automation framework. This role combines traditional QA excellence with modern AI-assisted testing, leveraging tools like Claude to enhance efficiency and coverage.

Responsibilities12

• Build & Own the QA Foundation
• Design, implement, and maintain our end-to-end test automation framework from scratch
• Establish QA processes, standards, and best practices that scale as the team grows
• Own the test pyramid: unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and exploratory coverage
• Create and maintain test environments, data strategies, and tooling infrastructure
• Write robust, maintainable automated E2E tests using Playwright
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines
• Implement visual regression, API, and performance testing as needed
• Use Claude and other LLMs to assist with test case generation
• Perform risk-based test planning for releases
• Triage, document, and track bugs
• Serve as the quality voice in architecture discussions

Requirements7

• 5+ years of software quality engineering experience in fast-paced, startup environments
• Proven track record of building a QA framework from scratch
• Working proficiency with Selenium, Cypress or Playwright
• Experience using AI tools in a QA or software development workflow
• Strong programming skills in at least one of: TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python
• Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines
• Solid understanding of web application architecture, APIs (REST/GraphQL), and browser DevTools
