Senior Software Engineer

Thrive IT Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build internal tooling for future-state architecture. The role involves backend services, web UI, and orchestrating autonomous AI agents. Requires strong Node.js/Java and PostgreSQL skills.

• Design, build and maintain internal tooling that supports Future State Architecture (FSA) across CTO Platforms with a focus on production-grade reliability and usability
• Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js and/or Java, integrating with relational databases especially PostgreSQL and other enterprise data sources
• Build and enhance web UI components to enable intuitive workflows for architects and engineering teams using the tooling
• Apply agentic engineering practices to orchestrate autonomous AI agents that can build, test, and deploy software ensuring appropriate controls and observability
• Implement robust integration patterns (e.g., MCP and tool/function calling) to connect tools safely and consistently across the architecture ecosystem
• Collaborate with architects, platform engineers, and stakeholders to translate future-state architecture needs into clear technical designs and deliverables
• Ensure solutions meet engineering standards including security, performance, resilience, testing, and documentation expectations
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the toolchain and ways of working including code reviews, automation, and operational support for live services

• Strong software engineering capability in Node.js and/or Java
• Relational database expertise, particularly PostgreSQL, data modelling, query optimisation
• Web UI development experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
• Agentic application engineering knowledge including orchestration of autonomous AI agents
• Integration pattern expertise (e.g., MCP, tool/function calling, API design)
• Production engineering mindset: security, resilience, performance, observability, automated testing
• Solution design and architecture skills for internal platforms and tooling
• Strong English communication skills and stakeholder collaboration in a global environment
• Mandatory skills: Java, Node.js, PostgreSQL
