About the Position

As an HTML/CSS Developer, you will review AI-generated HTML/CSS code, UI layouts, and technical explanations, and produce high-quality reference implementations for frontend tasks. This fully remote, hourly paid contractor role is with SME Careers, an AI data services company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI Training Content: Create detailed prompts across HTML/CSS topics and write high-quality reference answers to guide AI learning.
  • Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve semantic correctness, accessibility, responsiveness, and visual fidelity.
  • Ensure Model Integrity: Test AI outputs for inaccuracies or unsafe recommendations, validating reliability across real-world UI use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 4+ years of professional experience building production UIs with semantic HTML and modern CSS.
  • Expert-level proficiency in CSS layout (Flexbox, Grid), responsive patterns, and component-based styling approaches.
  • Strong accessibility knowledge: semantic structure, ARIA basics, keyboard navigation, focus management fundamentals, and WCAG-aware design.
  • Strong understanding of browser behavior: box model, stacking context, positioning, rendering quirks, and cross-browser testing strategy.
  • Experience with CSS maintainability: naming conventions (BEM or similar), design tokens, variables, theming, and avoiding specificity wars.
  • Familiarity with modern tooling is a plus (Sass/PostCSS, Tailwind, CSS Modules, styled systems), but role focuses on core HTML/CSS correctness.
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency (written and spoken), with the ability to write clear technical explanations and follow detailed English-language guidelines.
  • Proven experience conducting detailed code reviews and enforcing UI quality standards for accessibility, responsiveness, and maintainability.
  • Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated technical content is a strong plus.
  • Highly detail-oriented and systematic, with a methodical approach to evaluating reasoning quality and identifying subtle issues in UI behavior.
