About the Position
Notion is building an AI-powered collaborative workspace. As a new grad software engineer, you'll shape core user experiences and features impacting millions of users across teams, working on both frontend and backend systems.
Responsibilities
- Work with others to plan, shape, and build new product features from conception to maintenance.
- Help improve performance and reliability, or polish existing features (e.g., update spell checker, improve search indexing).
- Build internal tools to support simplicity and productivity for the whole team (e.g., scripts to import user feedback into Notion).
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; must be able to start full-time prior to July 27, 2026.
- Previous internship experience.
- Working towards proficiency in one or more programming languages such as TypeScript, Node.js, or Python.
- Impact-driven approach to technology; focus on building successful systems that solve real problems.
- Stay current with tools like Codex, Claude Code, and other AI-assisted development environments.
- Thoughtful problem-solving: decompose tricky problems and work towards clean solutions.
- Own the outcome: communicate clearly about progress and blockers; show initiative.
- Team player: collaborate cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals.
- Passion for web applications: build and maintain quality UIs using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern UI framework like React.
- Familiarity with backend systems and how parts of a system fit together; familiarity with databases like Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB is a plus.
