About the Position
Tesco Technology is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead software development within the Data Science Engineering team in Kraków. The role involves managing a team of software engineers and data scientists, building scalable data products, and implementing DevOps practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct performance assessments, provide feedback, and guide career development for team members
- Mentor the development team, ensuring implementation of best practices, design principles, and coding standards
- Ensure processes and standards that enable high-quality software delivery
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, shaping technical strategy and roadmap
- Define project scopes, timelines, and ensure alignment with business goals
- Monitor project progress, mitigate risks, and maintain alignment with enterprise standards
- Foster innovation and explore new tools/methodologies
- Inspire the team to deliver clean, efficient code based on industry standards
- Create comprehensive technical documentation
- Implement security tools (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk) and oversee adherence to security best practices
- Manage application performance and asset monitoring (e.g., Splunk, New Relic) for seamless operation
Requirements
- Experience with management of software engineering teams
- Track record of driving technical excellence and change
- Experience working in a global team distributed across multiple locations
- Very strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Experience working with multiple software development methodologies including Scrum & Kanban
- ML engineering including feature engineering, versioning and packaging, model training and distribution
- Strong experience working with distributed computing frameworks
- Architecture of solutions to integrate Data Science products into client applications
- Enterprise integration patterns, microservice architectures and event sourcing
- Containerisation ecosystems and other resource, workflow and orchestration systems
- Experience of automation, configuration management, multi-cloud and hybridisation, IAAS and PAAS
- Problem solving, analysis and computational skills
- High degree of emotional intelligence
- Strategic thinking with ability to see the big picture
