Engineering Manager

Smart Capital Center, an AI-powered platform for Commercial Real Estate investment, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team building complex, AI-powered software products.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development
• Foster a high-performance engineering culture centered around ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Build an environment that emphasizes engineering excellence, collaboration, and innovation
• Help recruit, interview, and onboard exceptional engineering talent
• Drive technical direction in partnership with senior engineers and architects
• Guide architectural decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and long-term platform growth
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes
• Review technical designs and provide guidance on complex engineering challenges
• Balance technical debt with product delivery priorities
• Own engineering execution across multiple initiatives and product areas
• Partner with Product Managers to define roadmaps, estimate work, and manage delivery timelines
• Remove blockers and ensure teams execute efficiently while maintaining high quality
• Monitor engineering velocity and continuously improve development processes
• Drive predictable, high-quality software releases
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career planning
• Set clear goals and expectations for engineers
• Provide timely feedback and support professional growth
• Manage team capacity, workload, and resource planning
• Promote knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration
• Oversee the development of scalable backend services, APIs, and frontend applications
• Ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and performant as the platform grows
• Drive improvements in system architecture, observability, automation, and operational excellence
• Collaborate on technology selection and platform evolution
• Partner closely with Product, UX, Data, and AI teams to deliver impactful customer solutions
• Communicate technical strategy and project status to stakeholders
• Align engineering priorities with company objectives
• Participate actively in Agile planning and execution

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years leading or managing software engineering teams
• Proven experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing engineering teams
• Strong decision-making, communication, and organizational skills
• Strong experience building and shipping full-stack applications
• Solid understanding of modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, JavaScript)
• Strong backend experience (Java/Spring Boot preferred, or Python)
• Experience designing scalable APIs and distributed systems
• Strong understanding of SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Experience managing Agile software development processes
• Strong understanding of software architecture and system design
• Experience balancing engineering quality with delivery speed
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
• Data-driven approach to planning, execution, and continuous improvement
