About the Position

money.co.uk is a financial comparison service, part of RVU group. The Financial Services team builds web apps and back office systems for financial products across multiple brands. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to contribute across the full stack, leveraging TypeScript, React, Node.js on AWS/Kubernetes, and driving AI adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business leads, commercial managers, ops executives, product managers, data analysts, designers, and engineers to solve business problems with software.
  • Contribute across the full stack: infrastructure, databases, pipelines, servers, CDNs, web UIs, monitoring, and performance analysis.
  • Build responsive accessible React components aligned with the design system.
  • Work with APIs, real-time metrics, alerting, and databases.
  • Keep applications secure.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and conduct code reviews.
  • Ensure solutions are properly tested with focus on best practices and quality assurance.
  • Work closely with AI as a development tool and business enabler; find new ways to leverage AI and evangelise AI adoption.
  • Support and improve the engineering team's delivery and technical expertise.
  • Define and maintain best practices; shape the future of Financial Services within RVU.

Requirements

  • Technical expert who will be a multiplier for the team.
  • Full stack role: comfortable building cloud-native scalable applications and styling responsive React components.
  • Experience from building MVPs through to large scale production systems; pragmatic decision-making.
  • Ability to identify friction points and improvements with business value.
  • Growth mindset, keen to learn and explore.
  • Proven ability to debug large complex systems.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments; assess new libraries, technologies, tools, and approaches, especially AI.
  • Strong TypeScript skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Node ecosystem (node, npm, yarn); familiarity with Bun desirable.
  • Proficient with AI tooling including CLI/editor-based LLM agents and MCP servers.
  • Solid understanding of React paradigm (one-way data binding, declarative programming, rules of hooks, anti-patterns).
  • Practical experience of software engineering principles (separation of concerns, design patterns, domain-driven design).
  • Familiarity with container-based cloud-native applications and architectural patterns (REST APIs, message passing, scaling, load balancing).
  • Knowledge of web security concerns (SQL injection, XSS, CORS, cookies, authentication/authorisation).
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Kubernetes, Prometheus, Argo workflows, GitHub Actions, Elasticsearch/Opensearch, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, DBT data pipelines, Fastly, Storybook, component libraries and design systems, Builder.io, Bun.
