About the Position

Graduate Software Engineer role in FinTech software development, based in London office, providing hands-on experience in developing secure, scalable software solutions with mentorship from experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the development of software components under the guidance of more experienced engineers, ensuring you follow coding standards and best practices.
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while actively seeking feedback to improve your technical skills.
  • Assisting in the testing and debugging of software features, learning how to identify and resolve bugs effectively.
  • Participating in team discussions, stand-ups, and code reviews, absorbing knowledge from experienced engineers and asking questions to enhance your understanding.
  • Collaborating with team members to understand project requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
  • Learning the fundamentals of secure development practices and implement these in your work as you gain more experience.
  • Supporting engineers in maintaining and improving software systems, becoming familiar with tools, processes, and workflows used in development.
  • Developing a basic understanding of cloud platforms, microservices architecture, and database management, and apply this knowledge as you progress.
  • Contributing to the creation of technical documentation to help track progress and capture learning as you develop new skills.
  • Communicating your progress and challenges with your manager or mentor, focusing on continuous improvement and taking ownership of your learning journey.
  • Maintaining accurate, complete, and timely records of investigations in accordance with internal policies and applicable AML/CFT regulations.
  • Being responsible for identifying suspicious activity and following process to report these where required.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to validate alerts, ensure consistency in decision-making, and escalate confirmed or high-risk cases for further review or regulatory reporting

Requirements

  • 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related (STEM) field.
  • A commercially aware mindset, and an interest in FinTech, finance and Financial Products and Services.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language such as C# .NET, TypeScript, React or similar through academic projects, internships, or self-study.
  • Familiarity with web development concepts, APIs, and databases, with a strong willingness to learn about new technologies.
  • Basic understanding of software development processes and a desire to improve your skills.
  • Willingness to learn from more experienced engineers and to take feedback constructively.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on writing clear and organized code.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a passion for finance technology and software development.
