About the Position

The platform is a multi-tenant SaaS solution for enterprise fleet management, processing continuous telemetry streams from connected vehicles, with backend built on Python/Django and Golang. The role involves owning data platform architecture, defining standards in data engineering, and collaborating on deployment patterns in a microservices architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Own data platform architecture across platform
  • Define and enforce backend and data engineering standards
  • Own code quality and architectural consistency
  • Own event-driven integrations with 20+ external data partners
  • Design and govern data models
  • Define and maintain IaC architecture for owned services
  • Collaborate with DevOps on deployment patterns
  • Monitor production systems and drive alerting standards
  • Represent backend and data constraints in planning and API discussions
  • Produce and maintain architecture documentation
  • Participate in planning and estimation discussions

Requirements

  • 5+ years Python backend in production
  • 2+ years as a lead or principal on a data-heavy platform
  • Typed Python at depth: Pydantic, mypy/pyright
  • AWS data services in production: Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3
  • Event-driven architecture ownership
  • Data engineering at principal depth: ETL/ELT
  • SQL at depth: PostgreSQL and analytical engines
  • Go (Golang) — 2+ years in production
  • Terraform — owns IaC architecture
  • Testing discipline: pytest, pytest-mock
  • Apache Kafka at scale
