Web Application Developer

XTS is seeking a Web Application Developer to enhance The National Map, a USGS resource. The role involves developing responsive web applications for geospatial data access using React, Next.js, and Node.js. The company offers flexible benefits and remote work.

• Develop, enhance, and maintain responsive web applications that provide access to geospatial data
• Improve the functionality and usability of existing web interfaces to better serve end-users
• Create visually appealing and user-friendly web interfaces for geospatial data exploration and analysis
• Support the processing and delivery of geospatial data through scripting and automation
• Document development workflows, technical decisions, and updates through comprehensive documentation and code comments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including GIS specialists, data scientists, and project managers
• Identify opportunities for application improvements and propose innovative solutions
• Support deployment and integration of applications within cloud environments such as AWS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in web application development
• Proven experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining responsive, user-focused web applications and interfaces
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, React, and modern JavaScript libraries
• Ability to document development workflows, technical decisions, and changes effectively
• Excellent collaboration skills and initiative to work proactively within a team environment
• Familiarity with Python scripting for geospatial data processing (desired)
• Proficiency with modern web development tools such as Node.js, Vite, Next.js, Typescript, or similar
• Experience developing web mapping applications using ArcGIS JavaScript API or comparable geospatial mapping technologies
• Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and services (preferred)
