Senior Java Engineer

Senior Java Engineer role at Star, focusing on extending the CAPI platform by developing connectors to advertising platforms using Java, Spring, and AWS. The role involves backend development, microservices, and event-driven systems.

• Participate in requirement analysis, research implementation ways and possibilities
• Proactively engage in research, discussions and decisions on software architecture and internal coding style
• Design, develop and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code
• Collaborate with the team members and customer representatives
• Perform code reviews and share best practices with colleagues

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience (backend)
• Strong Java Core knowledge and hands-on experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, MVC, Security and Data
• Solid understanding of OOP, OOD, software architecture and GoF design patterns
• Experience in designing microservices, including inter-service authorization, distributed tracing and contract-first REST API design
• Hands-on experience with Spring Cloud, including OpenFeign, Stream and Gateway
• Strong relational database expertise, preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL, including complex queries, indexing, performance optimization and schema migrations with Liquibase or Flyway
• Production experience with Hibernate/JPA or jOOQ
• Experience building event-driven systems with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS or Kinesis
• Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Testcontainers, WireMock and related tools
• Practical experience with AWS services such as S3, SQS, RDS, Lambda, EC2, VPC, ElastiCache, Kinesis and DynamoDB
• Experience with Maven or Gradle, Docker and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Good English skills and willingness to communicate directly with customers
• Experience developing high-load, distributed systems (plus)
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB (plus)
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform (plus)
• Experience with observability tools such as Micrometer, OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing platforms (plus)
