Sr Engineer - Full Stack

Target is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Tile team, which maintains a collaborative editing tool for designers and merchants. The role involves designing and implementing features, connecting to product data sources, and improving reliability and observability.

• Design, implement and maintain collaborative editing features for Target’s designers and merchants.
• Connect the Tile application to Target’s product and materials data sources.
• Integrate the Tile application into the PLM ecosystem by building search, notification and reporting capabilities.
• Help scale the Tile application as it onboards a large cohort of new users in 2027.
• Improve reliability and observability of our application to help maintain a high engineering quality bar and excellent user experience as we grow.

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software development experience, including a healthy mix of experience with: React/Typescript and common front-end implementation patterns.
• Relational databases, particularly Postgres.
• GraphQL and common patterns for query optimization/performance tuning.
• Kafka and common patterns for building enterprise messaging pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of a common enterprise backend stack.
• Demonstrates strong enterprise architecture fundamentals (e.g. “why do we put a service layer in front of a database”)
• Demonstrates knowledge of common testing frameworks/patterns for front-end systems.
• Working knowledge on package-specific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
• Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
• Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain
• Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
• Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
• Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
• Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
• Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
• Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
• Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
