Senior Machine Learning Engineer

The Sr. Machine Learning Engineer position involves building robust data solutions for the Royal Netherlands Army, integrating data engineering, DevOps, and software development to support AI and data science initiatives. The role includes designing data pipelines, supporting data scientists, and implementing AI solutions in operational settings.

• Designing, building and managing robust and scalable data processing pipelines.
• Developing databases and applications to improve, enrich, and transform data automatically.
• Supporting Data Scientists by packaging their AI models into ready-to-use applications.
• Actively supporting the implementation of AI and data science solutions in operational environments.
• Translating complex problems into concrete plans.
• Coordinating within a project team to realize data engineering solutions.
• Coaching and directing junior and mid-level engineers.
• Researching and analyzing (international) developments in data engineering and AI systems.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Informatics.
• Extensive experience as a DevOps Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, and/or Data Engineer.
• Specialized knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD techniques.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL, with experience in tools like Apache Airflow and Spark.
• Strong understanding of the hardware layer where solutions must operate.
• Organizational talent with the ability to work independently and in a coordinating project-based manner (Agile, Scrum).
• Strong communication skills, able to easily connect with colleagues and stakeholders.
