About the Position
As a QA Engineer at our grid, you play a key role in realising ABN AMRO's strategy of being a personal bank in the digital age. Working closely with an interdisciplinary DevOps team, you are responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and reliability of backend systems.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive test strategy for backend services and APIs
- Design, develop, and maintain API and integration test frameworks
- Validate service-to-service integrations and data flows
- Ensure data integrity, contract validation, and error handling
- Ensure quality gates are met in CI/CD pipelines
- Perform manual exploratory testing when required
- Identify, report, and track defects with clear root-cause analysis
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and DevOps teams
- Advocate for shift-left testing, quality best practices, and continuous improvement
- Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to QA capability building.
Requirements
- 5+ years of overall QA experience, including 3+ years of strong hands-on API test automation
- Strong experience with automation tools such as: Rest Assured, Karate
- Experience with performance testing tools, such as: JMeter, NeoLoad
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments & DevOps ways of working
- Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Hands-on experience with test case management tools (e.g. Azure Test Plans)
- Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
- Experience working in Fintech or regulated environments
- Experience with contract-based testing (e.g., Pact, Specmatic) to validate API agreements between services
- Good understanding of web application testing
- Experience with test data management and environment coordination
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Quick learner with adaptability to new tools and domains
- Strong communication, coordination, and collaboration skills
