Senior Software Engineer - Network Automation

1GLOBAL is a technology-driven global mobile communications provider. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Network Automation Unit in Sydney, Australia. The role is software-first, focusing on turning complex network and telecom workflows into reliable internal platforms, automation systems, and test capabilities.

• Work directly with telco teams to understand problems, workflows, and constraints
• Investigate systems, repos, tickets, and runtime behavior
• Build reliable knowledge bases that capture how complex systems actually work
• Design reliable technical solutions for operational and automation problems
• Break down ambiguous work into clear tickets, execution steps, and validation plans
• Use AI-assisted workflows to speed up research, implementation, and delivery
• Review AI-generated code critically for correctness, quality, and production safety
• Deliver changes to staging and validate them through integration and end-to-end testing

• Senior-level experience building backend, platform, automation, or internal tooling
• A software-first mindset and comfort working in operationally complex domains
• Strong technical judgment, especially when reviewing AI-generated output
• Experience turning ambiguous problems into structured investigations and executable plans
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure and cloud services
• Working knowledge of Python and TypeScript, so you can review and guide implementation
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, for example, GitLab CI
• Working knowledge of SQL, ideally PostgreSQL
• Bonus points for telecom or network systems experience
