Why is performance important for conversion?

Performance directly affects conversion because speed is the first experience of interacting with a product, and it determines whether a person reaches the needed action at all. If a site is slow, the user doesn't have time to get absorbed in the value proposition, which means they don't buy, don't subscribe, and "never reach the button."

The main reasons:

1. Speed shapes the first impression

The mind judges a site within fractions of a second. If it "thinks," a person concludes: "this will be long and complicated." Conversion actions require engagement, and slow loading kills it from the very start.

2. Every extra second lowers motivation

When a page takes 4-6 seconds to open, the brain picks the path of least resistance: closing the tab. The user's goal already requires effort (buy, compare, pay), and lag adds resistance.

3. The slower it is, the lower the trust

Distrust means abandoning the action. If a site performs poorly at the most basic stage (loading), the user fears that payment, delivery, and service will be just as bad.

4. Performance is directly linked to bounces and session length

Slow means less scrolling, fewer clicks, fewer viewed blocks, meaning the offer doesn't have time to sell itself. A fast page, on the other hand, lets you carry the user through the funnel to the end, and that increases conversion.

Summary: good performance means reduced friction on the user's path. Less friction means higher engagement, trust, and willingness to complete the target action.
